Halifax Nova Scotia
Halifax: Nova Scotia's City by the Sea
Visitors have been falling in love with Halifax for more than 250 years. Nova Scotia’s capital, Halifax combines the international essence of a major port city and naval base, with the youthful vibe of a university town, and the culture and heritage of one of Canada’s most historic communities.
Halifax was founded in 1749 by Governor Edward Cornwallis and 2500 settlers to act as a naval and army base to protect them from the French, creating Canada's first permanent British town on the world's second largest natural harbour.
